The Bedtime Nook sends a personalized bedtime story to your inbox each night, with your child as the hero. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We built this for our own kids first, and we treat your family's information the way we'd want ours treated.
Who provides the information
The account holder is a parent or guardian (18 or older). You provide your child's first name and age so we can write a story for them. Your child does not use or interact with the service. The story is delivered to you, the parent, to read aloud.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address.
- About your child (provided by you): first name, age, favorite theme, and optionally a companion (stuffed animal/pet name) and similar preferences.
- Billing (paid subscribers): payment information, processed by our payment provider (we do not store full card details).
- Basic usage/site data: standard information needed to run the site and deliver email (such as your email provider's delivery and open data). Our public marketing pages use a Meta (Facebook) pixel to measure our own ads. It counts anonymous events like a page view or a completed signup, and it never receives your name, your email, or anything about your child.
We practice data minimization: we ask only for what's needed to personalize the story. We do not collect last names, home addresses, full birthdates, photos, audio/video of your child, location, or any sensitive information.
How we use it
Only to: (1) write and deliver your child's nightly story, (2) run your account and billing, and (3) reply if you contact us. That's it.
Using the app
The Bedtime Nook app (installed from your home screen or an app store) lets you read your nightly stories, revisit a saved library, and create extra stories on demand. If you use it:
- Sign-in: we email you a one-time code, and your session is stored on your device so you stay signed in.
- Notifications (optional): if you turn on bedtime reminders, your device registers for push notifications so we can let you know a story is ready. Turn it off anytime in the app or your device settings.
- Story tokens (optional): you can buy a pack of story tokens to create extra stories. Payments are processed by Stripe (or the app store's billing where required); we never see or store full card details.
- App usage: we keep simple first-party counts (such as stories opened or created) to understand whether the app is useful. This stays with us, is tied only to your account email, and is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Your child's information
We collect your child's first name and age only to make the story about them. We do not build a profile of your child, do not show ads, and never sell your or your child's information. Stories are generated with AI and pass an automated safety review before they're sent.
Who we share it with
We use a small set of trusted service providers, bound by agreement to protect your data and use it only to provide the service:

We do not sell your data, and we never share your or your child's personal information for advertising. The Meta pixel above measures our own ads using anonymous events only, and you can limit cookie-based ad measurement in your browser settings or in Meta's ad preferences.
How long we keep it & how to delete it
We keep your information while your account is active. If you cancel, we delete your child's data and saved stories within 30 days unless you re-subscribe.
You can access, correct, or delete your information at any time. In the app, open Account → Delete my account to permanently erase your account, your saved stories, and your child's details right away. You can also email privacy@thebedtimenook.com and we'll take care of it. (Unsubscribing stops the emails; deleting removes your data entirely.)
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit and access controls, and we keep credentials secured. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to safeguard your family's data.
Children under 13 (COPPA)
The Bedtime Nook is intended for parents and guardians, who provide limited information about their child solely to personalize a bedtime story. We do not knowingly let children create accounts or submit information directly, and we do not direct the service to children. Parents may review, change, or delete their child's information, and refuse further collection, at any time by emailing privacy@thebedtimenook.com. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll post the updated policy here and update the effective date; for significant changes we'll notify account holders by email.
